Does anyone know any websites which have advertisements for puppies for sale?

Personally, I wouldn't buy a puppy over the internet. Nor would I respond to an advert in a magazine, newspaper or shop window. That's how puppy farmers and backyard breeders sell their puppies to unsuspecting members of the public.

Don't be fooled by claims on sites like e-pupz that they are against puppy farming - the way these sites are set up make it IDEAL for the puppy farmer.

If you really want a puppy, speak to members of the breed clubs.

Responsible breeders will pay to have all the relevant health checks done on both sire (dad) and dam (mum) to make sure the puppies are healthy. They will also be breeding for sound temperament.

Responsible breeders will be very knowledgeable about the breed, and will be able to advise you if you have a problem.

Be prepared for the breeder to ask you a lot of questions. This is important, they want to know that the home they are going to will be suitable. Just because the person who wants the dog is a nice person, doesn't necessarily mean they can provide the right home for any of their particular dogs (for instance - I consider myself a fairly responsible pet owner, but there's no way I could cope with one of the higher energy breeds).

Alternatively - are you willing to rescue? There are loads of dogs of all breeds (plus crossbreeds) waiting for a home. If you're in the UK, this link should help you to find a rescue near you (just click on the part of the map closest to where you live):

try epupz thay have loads of pups all over the uk its a breeders use it .thay all most have any pup your looking for and price
reputable breeders do not use ads to sell puppies. There are plenty of places that advertise puppies, but I would not use any of them. They are all backyard breeders, brokers and millers who are selling inbred, overbred, unhealthy puppies. The only way we can put a stop to puppy mills for people to stop buying from them!!!

If you want to buy a puppy from a breeder, I suggest you research different breeds and decide which is best for you. From there go to www.akc.org and use their breeder referral service. You can also search for a breed club and they will be able to give you a referral. A reputable breeder will be showing or working their breed, they will also be doing the proper health testing to assure their breeding stock does not have genetic health issues (OFA, CERF, Optigen)

You can also go to www.petfinder.com there are plenty of homeless puppies (even purebreds and cute designer mixes!) that need good loving homes!
I have owned dogs all my life and always from a puppy stage, however, 3 months ago I was offered a beautiful brown labrador to re-home due to her owners changing circumstances. I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have ever done, no toilet training etc. just really good fun from the begining. I know I have been lucky because she came from a good home anyway, but please consider going to a re homing centre. I think I am right in saying that if you are unfortuante enough to choose a dog which doesn't fit in with your family they will take it back, so really you have nothing to lose and you may be as lucky as me. Good luck.

craigslist, you can actually find animals close to your area.
www.petfinder.com is a good place to find homeless dogs in your area. Don't buy a dog when you can rescue one and save a life :)
try preloved.just type that into the search engine it should come up.good look.
I would suggest to go to your local shelter or find a rescue and adopt a puppy. Or find a respectable breeder. Sales of puppies over the internet and sales of puppies at the pet stores is what keeps puppy mills in business. Puppy mill dogs are abused and kept in filthy conditions in very small cages. Many puppies from puppy mills are sick or have many genic defects because of the poor conditions their parents have to live in. Look up puppy mills on the interent.......what you will find is horrible and beyond anything anyone could imagine.
puppyfind.com. but be ready to spend some serious dough
are you looking to buy a puppy from a breeder on the web, becuase reputable breeders will not sell there dogs via the internet. if you purchase one that way you are asking for a dog to have health problems.
