Looking for AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD puppies for sale in Santa Barbara Area?

I really really would like an australian shepherd :) but i dont want to have to ship the poor thing out here on a plane =( i live in the santa barbara area of California. I would like to find some within only a few hours of here.

If Aussie Mom hadn't linked PetFinder.org I would have, it's a great resource for finding a new member of your family. If, however, you make the decision to go with a breeder, please run away from anyone that claims to breed ';mini aussies'; or ';toy aussies';. As others have suggested, find links to breed clubs in your area on akc.org, and do plenty of research on what to look for in a good, reputable breeder.
Contact the breed club. The AKC will be able to give you the contact details.


The breed club will put you in touch with ethical registered breeders so you know you will get a healthy dog. They may also have a breed rescue group.





Don't buy a dog from a back yard breeder. You don't know if the pups are pure bred or if they are healthy. Same with pet stores.
Get some from breed rescue or shelter. Do not buy from breeders or pet store.

I love how I get thumbs down for suggesting to adopt a rescue dog. People these days are so enlightened.
Here is a link to the national Australian shepherd club. You can find a local club near you, and a reputable breeder and learn more about the breed. There are also links to Rescue is you might consider an older slightly used dog.
